Calendario attività 2010

Our group is currently composed of ten people with ages ranging from 15 to 45 years. There are no limits to participate in our activities. It is never too late nor too early.
Our business consists of two parts, one a spectacular and evocative. We train in the techniques of use of the sword in one hand and a half (bastard sword), relying on ancient treaties such as fencing the I33 and Fiore dei Liberi's Flos Duellatorum. This study is aimed at building fencing games that simulate what might have been a medieval battle. The look is reminiscent
in the search for historical sources that allow us to make the clothing and equipment necessary for the correct interpretation of men (and women) in the Trentino region of the thirteenth century.

Bays attempted to free the Spirit, but the rover is not dead

"Spirit is not dead: it has started a new phase of his life" . The words of Doug McCuistion, director of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, announced the decision to abandon attempts to free the rover from Martian sand in which is trapped for about 10 months. Spirit, therefore, will not move over the surface of the Red Planet to discover its secrets, but will continue to operate as a scientific platform static. And if it succeeds, as we all hope to overcome the harsh Martian winter, then it is still significant scientific contribution that will provide for the improvement of our knowledge on Mars. 6 years have passed since the Spirit, along with the twin rover Opportunity, touched down on the planet begins an adventure that is designed to last only 3 months, has contributed decisively to change and improves our understanding of Mars. With images, analysis, observations that led directly to the two rovers on the Martian surface, we now know with certainty that once flowed on the planet rivers that flow into large reservoirs, we know with unprecedented detail the physical and chemical properties of rocks and sand that covers the surface, we have been able to study like never before meteorology and composition of the thin atmosphere, but we have even been able to analyze alcuni meteoriti precipitati in epoche remote su Marte. Anche a causa del malfunzionamento di una delle sei ruote sulle quali si sposta, tutti i tentativi di liberarlo sono stati vani e oggi, anche alla luce delle avverse condizioni climatiche dell'ormai prossimo inverno e della ridotta capacità di produzione di energia elettrica da parte dei pannelli solari di cui è dotato, i tecnici della NASA hanno preso la dolorosa ma necessaria decisione di abbandonare i tentativi di liberare il rover e di utilizzare tutte le risorse energetiche residue per l'unico obiettivo di superare la stagione rigida. Ma se questo obiettivo sarà raggiuto, se Spirit sopravviverà all'inverno marziano, allora lo attenderà una nuova stagine di grandi ricerche: lo studio delle variazioni nella rotazione del pianeta per comprenderne la composizione interna, l'analisi dell'atmosfera e del clima locale, l'analisi del suolo e delle rocce circostanti. Se Spirit riuscirà in tutto ciò allora, se possibile, ancora più grande sarà la gratitudine che l'intera comunità scientifica gli tributerà.

La storia

The Order of the Tower was born in Aldershot in 2009 following the completion of a project called Viva History, organized by the Youth Club of Aldershot in collaboration with the Plan Zone ARCi.Ma.Ga. Held by the fencing master Paolo Azzolini Trentina Fencing Club, the course will end con la partecipazione al Comun Comunale Lagarino presso Castel Beseno dove il gruppo si esibisce in uno scontro armato sul campo dei tornei.

Il 27 Dicembre 2009 nasce ufficialmente ad Aldeno un'associazione denominata "Ordine della Torre" con lo scopo di sviluppare e diffondere l'attività di pratica della scherma storica e gli aspetti culturali legati alla rievocazione storica. Nel 2010, la prima domenica di Maggio, l'associazione propone la prima edizione del Torneo della Perdonanza . A Giugno è la volta di una nuova partecipazione al Comun Comunale Lagarino che questa volta si tiene ad Aldeno.

Ad Ottobre 2010 il gruppo decide di focalizzare la own research work and recreational clothing and equipment on the XIII century, aiming to revive the feats of the noble family of thirty Castelbarco.

A collision between asteroids?

one that apparently shows a comet like many in orbit around the Sun may eventually prove to be the first witness in a direct collision between asteroids. On January 6th the net LINEAR (Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research) dedicated to the detection of potentially hazardous asteroids to the Earth has discovered an object, called P/2010 A2, which, presenting with a long tail, was immediately classified as a comet. The object travels very eccentric orbit within the asteroid belt, a region of space between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter with thousands of rocky bodies the size of several, a few meters up to hundreds miles. It 'was, however, its orbit crossed by P/2010 A2 give rise to some doubt about its real nature. Usually, in fact, the orbits of comets high ellipticity which brought them to come close to the Sun and then left up to very remote regions. Just during the closest approach we are witnessing the formation of the tail, caused by the action of sunlight on volatile components of comets. Astronomers have therefore suggested that the queue is shown by P/2010 A2 could be a long trail of debris formed as a result of a collision between two asteroids. reconstruct the history of star formation in a small galaxy

Combinando le osservazioni del telescopio spaziale Hubble con i dati ottenuti col radiotelescopio VLA (Very Large Array) un team di astronomi guidato da Benjamin Williams è riuscito a ricostruire the history of star formation in NGC 2976, a small irregular galaxy 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The galaxy has some morphological characteristics and, as it is devoid of spiral arms, is evolving, presenting a very low rate of star formation, with other processes for concentrated almost exclusively in a region of no more than 5 thousand light years in diameter around the central black hole. Due to the sensitivity of the Hubble, astronomers were able to study individual stars within the galaxy, determining the physical characteristics and age. From here the discovery that the processes of star formation were virtually absent in the outer regions and very low in the inner ones. The explanation can be sought by the gravitational interaction that the galaxy has been with the members of the larger of storage which also belongs to M81. As a result of close encounters, the outer regions of the gas was stripped away, while inside the disk was pushed toward the center to feed the greed of the central black hole. The activity of star formation in the interior is still very low, and estimates of the astronomers, that will not last for another 500 million years. Such a process has been described by theoretical models and recent observations of NGC 2976 appear to confirm them.

Ben 5 gruppi internazionali di astronomi hanno annunciato l'osservazione delle galassie più distanti mai individuate. Utilizzando la Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) installata sul telescopio spaziale Hubble durante l'ultima missione di servizio, gli astronomi hanno ottenuto le immagini di almeno 29 oggetti galattici di cui dodici con redshift pari a 6.3 e altre quattro con redshift superiore a 7. Ciò porta a stimare le loro distanze in circa 13 miliardi di anni luce, il che significa che queste galassie popolavano l'universo già 800 milioni di anni dopo la sua fromazione. In particolare, la scoperta di galassie piccole ma già formate nell'universo distante segna un punto a favore del modello di accrescimento gerarchico delle galassie secondo il quale le grandi galassie che popolano l'universo locale si sono formate a seguito degli scontri e delle fusioni che hanno subito quelle più piccole. Inoltre, la presenza di galassie già 800 milioni di anni dopo il big bang significa che i processi di formazione stellare devono essere cominciati prima di quanto fino ad ora ritenuto. Infine, lo studio delle galassie individuate da Hubble permette di ricavare informazioni sui meccanismi che portarono alla reionizzazione dell'universo, un evento verificatosi tra 400 e 900 milioni di anni dopo il big bang quando l'energia liberata dalle prime stelle strappò elettroni all'idrogeno neutro che allora riempiva l'universo rendendolo trasparente alla radiazione.

Kepler discovered five new extra-solar planets

Kepler discovered five new extra-solar planets, bringing to eight the total number of those so far identified by the NASA spacecraft. The announcement was made by the scientific mission of the William Borucki at a press conference in Washington at the American Astronomical Society. Launched March 9, 2009, Kepler was designed and built in order to detect Earth-sized extrasolar planets in the habitable zone of a sample of 150 thousand stars that make up his observation traget.
