Its onset is common a quello di molti altri artisti ma è bello ripercorrerlo insieme per donare ai giovani talenti la voglia di sperare che un domani il vero impegno possa essere premiato.
Quando ha scoperto che il suo strumento era la tastiera?
Dopo aver chiesto e ricevuto per natale una chitarra (parliamo di trent’anni fa), ho iniziato a prendere lezioni da un amico di famiglia. Strimpellando strimpellando mi sono ben presto accorto che non era il mio strumento, mentre impazzivo letteralmente per la tastierina bontempi che aveva mia cugina (la c.d. pianola). Vista l’esperienza non proprio positiva con la chitarra, ma per assecondarmi comunque nel desiderio di avere tasti bianchi e neri da suonare, i miei optarono per una “clavietta” a fiato, che, però, fu sufficiente a far capire loro che questa volta era nata una grande passione! Allora la mia famiglia viveva a Brescia e, dopo il trasferimento in Abruzzo, ho iniziato a prendere lezioni di pianoforte. Al tempo stesso coltivavo la passione per l’elettronica e l’informatica, ed ovviamente per la musica elettronica le tastiere anzi… proprio queste avevano su di me un ascendente molto forte.
Lei è autodidatta oppure ha seguito delle lezioni?
Dopo aver preso lezioni da un insegnante privato ho seguito un percorso didattico classico, fino a quando ho realizzato che il mio futuro musicale si modellava più attorno al mondo delle tastiere e della computer music che del pianoforte classico. Ho proseguito quindi il mio percorso didattico verso lo studio del pianoforte moderno e delle tastiere. Parallelamente ho studiato informatica, ed è stato molto semplice e naturale fondere le due ed approdare nel mondo della computer music.
Quali sono i pianisti/tastieristi che piu’ l’hanno influenzata?
Sin da bambino ero fortemente attratto dalle sonorità di tastieristi come Vangelis, Federico Monti Arduini (Il Guardiano del Faro), Joe Zawinul (Weather Report), Keith Emerson, Vittorio Nocenzi (Banco del Mutuo soccorso), Flavio Premoli (PFM), Richard Wright (Pink Floyd), Russel Ferrante (Yellow Jackets) e molti altri. Per quanto riguarda il pianoforte in senso più “stretto”, nel mio background ci sono Dave Grusin, Chick Corea, Oscar Peterson, Michel Petrucciani, Keith Jarrett, ma anche Glenn Gould, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Maurizio Pollini… l’elenco potrebbe continuare per ore!
Il suo esordio?
Il mio esordio sul “palcoscenico” risale all’estate del 1985, quando mi sono ritrovato a sostituire saltuariamente il tastierista di un duo che si esibiva sulla costa… La prima formazione che ho fondato risale al 1987/88, con la quale abbiamo fatto molte prove e più o meno una quindicina di concertini. Poi ho fatto playing around in various formations from time to time most successful, playing in street festivals, fairs, chalets, hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, weddings ... and so on and so forth. Invested everything I earned in the purchase of new musical instruments in order to be more technologically advanced and increase my arsenal of music. " I remember in 1991 I bought my first real computer to make music, an Apple SE/30, and I remember it cost me more than the car! It was in those years I made my leap, and I started to be appreciated and "asked" to what I could do. Before long I found myself playing with professionals established. My dream had come true!
Tell us about the partnership with the "no parking" where the band plays and the assets that a significant number of nights as well as a charismatic leader, but most of your decision to create a facility dedicated to music Teramo.
The idea of \u200b\u200b"no parking" comes at a time when I felt the need to close a beautiful and rewarding way, until then good, but who had exhausted their resources. With some friends we decided to focus our energies in this new project. The "no parking" born with a repertoire carefully studied and prepared before a table and then several months of rigorous testing. They came also the first original songs written by me, with whom also participated in national competitions with excellent results. Over the years the band's center of gravity has shifted towards a more commercial repertoire (mainly Dance Revival and 70/80), but remained unchanged solid foundation on which it relies. After about 15 years in the "no parking" military still 4 / 5 of the original formation. It is this great partnership, both artistic and human, which led us to create a facility dedicated to music in our city: that's born Faremusika!
The music and youth! A tip for people wanting to make music?
Il consiglio che dispenso più di frequente ai giovani che si avvicinano a questo meraviglioso mondo è che la musica per loro potrà rappresentare una seria professione o un semplice hobby; questo dipende da tantissimi fattori. Di certo saranno l’energia, la costanza, l’attenzione e l’amore che profonderanno nel fare musica a fare la differenza, ed in ogni caso le emozioni che ne ricaveranno ripagheranno gli “sforzi”.
Cosa ne pensa della scena musicale del nostro territorio?
Penso che ci sia un grande fermento. Non credevo ci fossero così tante persone che coltivano questa passione, e che si cimentano in progetti musicali. Anche in questo caso mi sento di ribadire il consiglio di prima: esorto tutti quelli che credono in un progetto a portarlo avanti con grande dedizione. Potrà concretizzarsi in un grande successo discografico e di pubblico o magari no, ma se fatto con il cuore resterà scritto in modo indelebile nel libro dei ricordi più belli.
C’è qualche band che l’ha colpita in maniera positiva?
Ho sentito progetti interessanti ed altri meno, ho sentito cose che mi hanno colpito positivamente ma anche negativamente. La produzione di artisti locali è un’altra delle avventure nella quale Faremusika ha intenzione di buttarsi. Produrre le realtà locali più interessanti cercando di portarle all’attenzione the public, thanks to the channels that over the years have been created with major domestic products.

There are many beautiful experiences in my career. Among these I remember the first time I played in a theater (it was 1993), the first time I played in front of over 15,000 people (it was always 1993), the time a song arranged by me has come to the Festival Sanremo (Giò Di Tonno), when I met and worked with one of the most important artists for me (Buck Owens). These are some of the things that will remain indelibly written in my book of memories. But there are also less beautiful or less beautiful, however, with implications: one of all is the one time I was "artistically courted" for a long time by a major artist and producer, who said no because he wanted only me follow him in his artistic activities, while it was not interested in other musicians of the group to play. Alas, I was very young and naive then (it was 1995). If I had accepted I would have actually found myself thrown into a highly professional and then, over the years has produced Tiro Mancino, Paola Turci, Alex Britti and more ...
What you try to translate a pentagram?
In a staff we can be written all or nothing. I think the most important thing is to give due importance to each of the notes contained therein. I really loved pianists like Glenn Gould or Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli because they always make the difference, giving due weight to every note written centuries ago and played by millions of others.
A desire?
I wake up tomorrow morning and have twenty years younger, but with the consciousness and experience of today. I would do almost all the things I did ... almost all of them!
The last book you read?
"World Without End" by Ken Follett. It is an author I've read everything I like il suo modo di scrivere e di descrivere. Ultimamente non mi riesce di avere tempo libero da dedicare alla lettura, spero proprio di trovarne perché ho sempre letto molto e riconosco che mi manca.
In futuro la vedremo…
Spero di si! Direi sempre più partecipe ed immerso nel mondo artistico. Faremusika rappresenta la mia nuova giovinezza musicale.
