Un incontro a tre voci che ha visto protagoniste la Calabria e la Sicilia in una terra, l’Emilia Romagna, che sta scoprendo sempre più l’esistenza della ramificazione criminale negli intrecci politico-economico-gestionale del territorio.

The oldest part of the castle, mostly preserved, was built by the rulers of Vanga: brothers and Federico Berardo, supporters of the Prince Bishop of Trento. For this reason Castel Roncolo entered the political sphere of the bishopric of Trent. The rocky outcrop on which stands the castle was named "runchenstayn" and enjoyed a strategic position because it allowed you to control the road from the city of Bolzano crossed to the north, the Sarn Valley. Nel 1385 il castello fu comprato dai fratelli Franz e Niklaus Vintler. Questi Bolzano were rich merchants. Nel 1406 salì al potere il duca Federico IV, detto „Tascavuota“,. Egli fu contrastato da una forte opposizione nobiliare, che diede vita alla “Lega dell’Elefante e del Falco”. In queste liti politiche furono coinvolti anche i Vintler. Niklaus Vintler, capostipite della famiglia, morì in completa povertà, nel 1413. Nella secondo metà del secolo il castello entrò in possesso del Duca Sigismondo “il Danaroso” e successivamente divenne proprietà dell’Imperatore Massimiliano I.

Questi lo fece restaurare e nella „Casa d´Estate” volle allestire il proprio appartamento e vi fece apporre, tra l´altro, lo stemma di famiglia collocandolo sia sopra la porta d’entrata della stanza dedicata a Tristano sia sulla cappa del camino nella stanza detta di Garello. Nel 1493 Massimiliano affidò la cura del castello al cancelliere Cyprian von Northeim e nel 1500, a Georg von Frundsberg, ricordato come „il padre dei Lanzichenecchi“.

Nel 1880 l´arciduca d´Austria Giovanni Salvatore Asburgo-Toscana acquistò Castel Roncolo dal vescovo di Trento, e nel 1882 lo donò all’imperatore austriaco Francesco Giuseppe I. Quest' ultimo, nel corso degli anni ottanta, incaricò Friedrich von Schmidt di restaurare il castello. É grazie a questi lavori, durati circa quattro anni, dal 1884 al 1888, che si deve il consolidamento del Palazzo Occidentale, la ricostruzione del mastio, crollato nel 1850, e la configurazione attuale del Palazzo Orientale.

L’opera di restauro compiuta dall’architetto Friedrich von Schmidt ha restituito al castello la sua originale facciata. In questo modo Castel Roncolo viene a costituire non solo un insieme di costruzioni medievali ma anche una testimonianza delle tecniche di restauro impiegate nel XIX secolo.

Nel 1893 lo stesso imperatore Francesco Giuseppe cedette Castel Roncolo alla città Bolzano that it was enriched with an additional tourist attraction.

L'evoluzione della storia del Welfare italiano e la recente crisi economica, hanno portato i governi ad investire sempre meno nell'ambito del sociale lasciando occupare questo vuoto dal Terzo Settore. Tramite il principio di sussidiarietà introdotto dalla legge 328/2000, associazioni, cooperative, fondazioni e volontariato hanno messo in campo sempre subjects becoming more forces early social development.
